One of the most common questions that I get about natural products is deodorant. What's safe and what should we avoid? What actually works??
No wonder I get questioned- this is an essential product that we can't live without! But most commercial antiperspirant-deodorants contain aluminum, which accumulates in the body and has been linked to Alzheimer's Disease, triclosan, linked to the disruption of thyroid hormones, and talc, linked to ovarian cancer and lung tumors. No thanks!
Just how are we supposed to stay as fresh-smelling as our busy lives demand?
Until now my go-to natural deodorant (note- these are NOT antiperspirants, since blocking up your pores isn't going to be a natural thing no matter how you go about it) has been Lavanila's The Healthy Deodorant. It's a nice creamy solid (still haven't gotten accostomed to those sprays), is gentle enough to apply after shaving and smells of warm vanilla goodness.
It's also $18 for 1.7 oz. A small price to pay for a safe product. But...
This week I got my hands on Bubble & Bee Organic's Pit Putty (the lovely Geranium & Lime version for women), an organic solid made with arrowroot powder, coconut oil and organic essential oils of geranim and lime. That's it.
I've road-tested it for several days (and a few workouts) and I am incredibly pleased with the results. It smells sophisticated and feminine, keeps things impressively dry and lasts. I am used to having to reapply natural deodorant more than once a day but haven't had to (most likely because the weather is finally cooling off). It's a powdery cream that's quite dry, and you just need to apply a few swipes gently and maybe rub it around a little to get rid of residue. I love the non-sticky texture!
But the best part has to be that it's only $10 for 2.5 oz! Order it from jujusalon.com and I know you'll be a natural deodorant convert.
